Minocqua has a lot of fun things to do in the Winter.

Guests from all over make the trip to our resort in Minocqua, Wisconsin to enjoy winter activities like snowmobiling, ice fishing, and snow shoe hiking, which typically receives up to 65 inches of snow each year! It's easy to see why with so much snow!

In addition, Northern Resort is located directly on the Bearskin Trail, an 18 mile, level, groomed winter sports trail.

Here are some of the fun things to do during winter when you visit the 'great up north'.

Time to ride a snowmobile.

Sledders flock to the Northwoods to ride hundreds of miles of well-maintained snowmobiling trails in Vilas and Oneida counties, where they can enjoy the sights of glistening pine trees and white-tailed deer.

Sledding makes it simple and comfortable to drive up to stores and restaurants to pick up supplies and get back to the trails. You can rent sleds in town or bring your own and park your trailer for free while staying at our resort.

Ice Fishing Right Outside your Cabin.

On a clear, bright January morning, there is nothing better than seeing your tip-up flag flying. With a hot cup of coffee warming your hands and your first catch already in the bucket, you're on your way to having a quite successful day!

Many people come from all over the Midwest to ice fish at Lake Minocqua, the lake our resort's located directly on. Among other things, Minocqua Lake offers a diverse selection of fish, including walleye, bass, pike, panfish, and more.

After a day on the ice, guests may dine at either The Thirsty Whale or The Boathouse, two nearby restaurants. After a quick stroll across the frozen lake, you'll be back in your cabin in no time!

Snow shoeing is a fun recreational activity.

There's a great reason why Snow Shoe hiking is becoming increasingly popular! It's a great workout, and it's also a fantastic method to enjoy fresh air in the wintertime.

After all that hiking, guests of Nitschke's Northern Resort enjoy a warm cabin, where you can gaze at the fresh, shimmering snow while taking in the sights and sounds of nature around you from a cozy 4-seasons sitting room overlooking the lake or forest.

Give us a call at 715-356-7795 to book a cabin when you're ready for a nice weekend away. Many of our cabins feature a gas fireplace, a well-stocked kitchen, and multiple rooms to accommodate all of your friends and family members.
