January is an exciting time in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. The snowmobile trails are open, the lake is thick enough to fish on and the sunshine glistening off the Eagle River Ice Castle is enough to bring a tear to your eye...no really, that sun can be bright against all this snow.

Join us this month for the following activities:

Cruiser Open House 12-13th

Cross Country Cruisers 3rd Annual Open House is so much fun for the whole family. As the image below shows, they've got everything from a spaghetti dinner to Kitty Kat races or raffles. Going on this weekend. Contact us if you are interested in booking a cabin. We've got great rates in January!

Eagle River Ice Castle - All Month Long

Every year since 1933 (save 1934) an ice castle has been built in Eagle River, WI by volunteers who love keeping this tradition alive. The very first ice castle was built by "Ed Bandow and William Radue, owner of Pickerel Lake Resort (who) cut the ice from Silver Lake." (source) Since then it has changed hands many times. It is currently built annually by the Eagle River Area's Volunteer Fire Department with a design constructed from lego's by the then-current assistance chief Jack Thomas. Read more here. Chicago Dance Crash - 17th

This performance at the Campanile Center for the Arts in Minocqua, Wisconsin is a unique blend of music genres and dancing styles to excite your senses. From the Minocqua.org website, "Chicago Dance Crash has emerged as the premier fusion-style contemporary dance company in the Midwest. Emphasizing a unique mission of both athleticism and accessibility, the Crash aesthetic is most notably recognized by its combination of concert and hip hop techniques." The Chicago Tribune states, "Crash brings a compelling mixture of ballet, break-dancing, hip-hop, martial arts and dangerous acrobatics into seamless alignment." Sounds exciting to me!

We have been coming to the resort since 2002. We have made SO many memories there through the years… fishing, big fish/small fish contest, playing on the lake, biking, hammocking, relaxing. Everyone looks forward to that week, it’s definitely our favorite week of the year!
